Aluminum Honeycomb Panel FAQs

An aluminum honeycomb panel is a sandwich panel consisting of an aluminum Face Skin, an Aluminum Honeycomb Core and an aluminum Back Skin, bonded together with adhesive.

The structure separates the two aluminum skins with a honeycomb core and can be configured for interior walls, ceilings, furniture, cabinets and door applications.

At Qitianmei, “all-aluminum” refers to the Face Skin, Back Skin and Honeycomb Core being aluminum.

The finished panel also contains PU adhesive and may include coatings, paint or decorative films.

“All-aluminum” therefore describes the main panel structure and does not mean the finished panel contains no non-metallic materials.

Qitianmei aluminum honeycomb panels use PU adhesive, or polyurethane adhesive, to bond the aluminum skins to the honeycomb core.

Performance requirements involving temperature, durability, fire behavior, weather exposure or other special conditions are confirmed according to the selected panel configuration and applicable technical documentation.

The final thickness should be considered together with the application, panel dimensions, Face Skin Thickness, Back Skin Thickness, honeycomb core and any relevant connection or hardware requirements.

The current general thickness range is:

Face Skin Thickness: 0.1–2.0 mm
Back Skin Thickness: 0.1–2.0 mm

Available Honeycomb Cell Designations include:

3×3 / 4×4 / 5×5 / 6×6 mm

A 2×2 mm option can also be discussed for ceiling applications.

Cell geometry and measurement method are confirmed when required for detailed engineering specifications or drawings.

The designations should not be automatically interpreted as hexagon side length, cell diameter, across-flats dimension or another geometric measurement unless specifically confirmed.

Qitianmei’s current main product positioning is for interior applications.

Outdoor projects can be discussed, but suitability must be reviewed according to the complete panel construction, adhesive, surface system, edge sealing, environment and installation system.

The availability of PVDF alone does not automatically mean a standard interior panel is suitable for long-term outdoor use.

Specific outdoor service life or weathering performance is not stated without applicable verification.

Performance data are treated as Qitianmei verified performance only when supported by an applicable formal test report or technical documentation for the relevant panel configuration.

Fire performance, load capacity, acoustic performance, thermal performance, service temperature, lifetime and similar values should not be assumed from general industry references or from a different panel construction.

Where project-specific performance is required, the applicable test basis and panel configuration should be confirmed before the value is used as a Qitianmei product claim.
